By following step by step guidelines you can fix your roof like pro roofing contractors

1) Considering the Age:

Each material used in the roof making will have a certain age. After passing the few years, the material starts losing its strength and it becomes weak. The first thing that you have to consider is the age of the material. See how many years the roof is serving your home.

Roofing materials such as asphalt shingles get old over the period of time. You will see cracks on the shingles which may cause the waterdrop inside the home. The harsh sunlight also melts the coating and makes the compositions weak. If your roof is in the bad condition then you should consider replacing the shingles with the new material. Fixing each of them separately will not be possible, so it is better you opt for the completely new shingles that last longer.

2) Brick Chimneys:

The brick made chimney might look strong at first view, but in many cases, the bricks joint become weak and start leaking the water inside. The Chimneys are consistently exposed to the bright sunlight, hot temperature, water, and wind. Over the period of time, the brick loses the core strength and start moving from its position. When you do a close examination of the chimney, you will notice it has become weak. By just putting little pressure on the bricks you can easily break the chimney with your hand.

Moreover, the joints around the chimney that attached to the shingles might have decayed as well. You will see cracks in the joints from where the water can enter your home. You have to fix the cracks by applying the cement or the rubber patch to cover the gap between the chimney and roof.

3) Missing Shingles:

Heavy rain and wind might have pulled the Shingles from your roof and throw it down to your lawn. If you find any of the Shingles in your backyard or the lawn then it might be a sign of the water leakage from your roof. Replacing the Shingles is very easy. You just have to remove the broken shingles and replace it with a new one. Lay down the new shingle connecting to the neighboring shingles. The shingles are designed in a way that it holds themselves tightly by using their neighboring shingles.

You should always keep some shingles in the spare at home to replace the broken shingles immediately as damage occurs.

4) Holes in the roof:

Small holes in the roof are most common in the home. Big holes in the roof are easy to detect, but when it comes to finding the small holes that might leak the rainwater will be a challenging task. The close examination is the only way to detect the small holes in the roof. In most of the cases, it is undetectable until you see raindrops on your floor.

The holes can also occur due to misplacing of the shingles. The heavy rain and wind can create a gap between the shingles leaving the holes in the roof. Once you detect the holes in the roof, you can apply the cement or fix the problem by aligning the shingles properly to neighboring shingles.

5) Blocked Gutters:

This is also can become a cause of water drop from the roof. Before the beginning of the rainy season, you should clean the gutter attached to the roof. The mud and small particles can block the pipe and water will get stored on the roof. The water weight can damage the roof and start leaking it from inside.

Grab the ladder and use the hand gloves to clean the gutter. Remove all the junk stored in the pipe and permit the water to flow smoothly from the top to bottom. You can also hire someone to clean the roof.

Follow the instruction and do the roof repair by yourself without spending money on the yearly maintenance
