Stock up your packs with torches and bear spray to keep in the camping tent at night. Flashlights can always be useful to help find things and point you in the best direction when strolling after dark. The bear spray, on the contrary, is a buy that you more than likely and ideally will never use but is something definitely worth having for that additional piece of mind when you hear rustling in the woods.
It may seem to be strange, but being loud will keep a lot of the furry creatures unseen. That being said, if you have nearby neighbors, don't create a full out ruckus. The sounds of the campfire crackling, voices, and other man-made noises like car engines usually do the trick in scaring off wild animals.
As long as you may love and trust your pet dogs to stay nearby, it's not worth the risk of letting them stray off on their own. An option to always holding the other end of the leash is getting a spiral stake to put in the area to keep the pup nearby while giving them a little flexibility to walk.
When it involves snakes, be particularly cautious if you move logs or brush as a lot of snakes get to moving when their environment is tampered with. If snakes are a big worry of yours in a certain area, consider wearing sturdy footwear and gloves when moving such things.
